Karen sat on the balcony of the house she had rented in Paris.Preston
was sitting next to her in the lounge chair."More"he said in a happy
voice as he held the blue sippey cup at her.Karen sighed as she
shifted in her chair it was getting harder to move around with her
ever growing belly.Karen stood up as she took the cup.Something on
the tv in the room behind her caught her eyes as she steped inside
the door to refill Preston's juice cup."KISS will be taking a two
week break before heading to Japan."the man reported in French.Karen
looked at the film footage of KISS on the tv screen.The child she
carried kicked inside of her as she focused her eyes on the man that
was the father of the child she carried in her womb.Karen had been in
shock six months ago to find out she was pregnant.She had left New
York right after her role on Broadway had ended.Deciding it best if
she went to Paris to have the child.She knew that someday she would
have to tell Paul but for now she was safe from the public eye and
the American presses quistions.


Paul sat down at the kitchen table.It felt good to be able to relax
for a few weeks before he headed back out on tour.He and Pam were
still trying to work things out but it was getting harder as time
went on.It was hard when he really wasent home to talk.When they did
see each other they really dident have much to say to each other.He
could feel them growing further and further apart.Paul sipped his
coffee as his eyes glanced at a copy of some tabloid that the maid
had left behind the other day.Paul sat down his coffee as he picked
up the paper.He narrowed his eyes as he looked at a small photo in
the corner of the page.Was that really Karen he thought as he opened
the paper to the page whare the story was about her.'Karen Yates in
Paris waiting to give birth to her second child,was seen coming out
of a small Paris cafe.Karen Yates has refused to comment on the baby
she is carryings father.She moved to Paris right after finishing her
role as Sally Bowles on Cabaret on Broadway.'Paul put the paper down
as he felt tears come to his eyes.Why dident she tell him.She had to
know he would want to know.He had respected her wishes of not wanting
to see him again but things were diffrent now that he knew she was
carrying his baby.

Karen rolled over and looked at the clock on her night stand.Karen
wondered who would call her a two am as she fumbeled in the dark for
the phone hopeing that Preston wouldent wake up from the noise of the
ringing phone.'Hello'Karen said in a groggy voice.'Karen?'Paul said
in a soft voice.'Paul!'Karen said coming wide awake at the sound of
his voice.Karen sat up in bed holding the phone to her ear.'Karen we
need to see each other.'Paul said.Karen could hear a little anger in
his voice as her heart pounded in her chest.Karen could feel the baby
leap inside of her as she cradeled the phone to her ear.'How did you
get my number?'Karen asked.'Doc called your manger and got it for
me.I'll be flying out in the morning.I'll see you tomorrow
night.'Paul said as Karen heard the click of the phone.Hot tears came
to Karen's eyes she had thought she could do this without him ever
finding out and now her world felt like it was crumbbeling around
her.I should have told him she thought to herself as she laid back in
the bed.


Paul walked off the plane.He looked around the airport as he rubbed
the sleep from his eyes.He looked at the clock on the wall.It was
twelve thirty in Paris.He knew that Karen was most likly waiting up
for him as he claimed his bags.Paul found a phone and called her.She
was wide awake as she answered the phone.Paul jotted down the address
and quickly got a taxie.His heart was pounding in his chest as he
steped out of the taxie.He was angry and sad and he knew that he
still cared very much for her as he made his way up the steps of the
house.The door opened just as he was about to knock on the door.Ther
she stood as the light from inside the house poured onto the
porch.She looked like an angel as the light streamed fourth
highlighting her brown hair.Paul could see the tears in her green
eyes as she rested her hand on he swollen belly.All Paul's anger
faded away as he held his arms open to her.Karen steped into his arms
leting the tears fall as she buried her head into his chest.She knew
he was hurt and angry with her. And killed her to see him so upset
knowing she was the cause of it.
Karen stared into her new born sons eyes for the first time as the
doctor laid him on her chest.She smiled through her tears of joy.He
was beautiful with a small tuft of dark blond hair and large dark
blue eyes that seemed to want to be almost a dark brown."Hello"she
said softly.Kim her manger stood by Karens bed side smiling."You did
it!"Kim said as her own tears clouded her eyes.Karen closed her eyes
as she thought of Paul and wished he was there with her share in the
joy.Karen kissed her baby lightly on the cheek as she whispered "I
love you."


Paul sat in his hotal room trying to watch tv.His mind wandered as he
picked up the phone.He wanted so much to call Karen.He had called her
twice sense there last meeting and still she refused to let him be
involeved with her or there child.He wondered if his son had been
born yet.What a thing to have to wonder Dama it I should be allowed
into his life Paul thought with anger as he sat the phone back
down.Paul laid back on the bed he closed his eyes wondering what his
baby looked like.Suddnly Paul heard a light knock on the door."Paul
are you awake?"Paul heard Doc call through the closed door."Yeah hold
on!"Paul called as he got up to answer the door.Paul opened the door
to see Doc standing there holding his cell phone."Karen Yates is on
the phone.She wants to talk to you."Doc said handing him his cell
phone.Paul heart skiped a beat as he put the phone to his
ear."Hello"Paul said as he turned away from Doc."Paul"Karen's voice
said on the other end of the line.

As Paul held her he felt his unborn child kick aginst his body.He
smiled slightly at the feeling of life inside of her that he had help
make."Karem why?"Paul asked as he felt tears sting his eyes."Oh Paul
I was afraid."Karen said as she pulled away to look into his eyes.His
dark eyes were filled with tears of hurt.Paul put his arms around her
shoulder as they walked into the house.

Paul could see that Karen was avoiding eye contact with him as she
sat down on the sofa hanging her head.Paul knelt down in front of her
he put his fingers under her chin and gently forced her face up to
look at him."Karen I'm just so hurt, I know you were scared of the
publicty but you should have told me.You knew I would of helped
you."Paul said looking deeply into her green eyes.Karen nodded as she
looked at him."Your married Paul.Pam and you need to work things
out.No one ever has to know this is your child .I'll never tell
anyone.I just don't want to ruin my career or yours."Karen said
hopeing he would understand why she dident tell him.Paul nodded "I'm
this babies father.I want to see him or her.I want to be there for
you both."Paul said.Karen reached out and touched his cheek with her
hand."Its a boy."she said softly as tears came to her eyes."A
son."Paul said as he reached out and put his hand on her swollen
belly.Karen closed her eyes as she felt the baby kick."When is our
son due?"Paul asked in a whisper."April 30th."Karen said.Paul
nodded"What are we going to do?"Paul asked.Karen looked at him "I'm
moving back to New York after the baby is born."Karen said
softly.Paul could tell by the way she said the words that she really
wasent exspecting anything from him."Can I see our son?"Paul asked
almost fearing what she would say.Karen shook her head"No Paul.Just
forget about us and go back to Pam.I can take care of this baby and
Preston on my own."she said looking away from him.Paul stood up as
anger flashed in his eyes"Karen thats not fair!"he said."Paul its the
only way!We just had a fling its not like we meant anything to each
other."Karen said.Paul was stunned "Karen you know that I care very
much about you."he said as he looked at her.Karen stood up."You
should go.I need my rest and theres really nothing more for us to say
to each other."Karen said she could feel her heart breaking as she
looked at the hurt in his eyes.Paul walked towards her he knew she
was trying to make him hate her."Karen please don't do this to
me."Paul said as she pulled away from his touch."Just leave."Karen
said as she began to cry softly.Paul turned away he dident want to
upset her anymore."I'll come see you when you get back to New
York."Paul said as he walked out the door.

Doc could tell that Paul needed privecy as he left the room.Paul
closed the door behind him as he sat down on the bed."Karen,is
everything alright?"Paul asked as he heard the cell phone crackel a
bit."Paul I just wanted to let you know I had the baby last
night."she said softly.Paul could tell she was crying as she
spoke."Is he alright?"Paul asked hopeing his son was healthy and
strong."He's beautiful."Karen said.Paul closed his eyes as he tried
to picture what his son looked like."Karen I want to see my son."Paul
said as tears burned his eyes."Paul please,I shouldent have
called."Karen said.Paul knew she was going to hang up."Karen what did
you name him?"he asked as he paniced at the thought of this may being
the only chance he would ever have to ask."I havent named him
yet."she said."When can I see him please don't shut me out."Paul
pleaded.Paul heard the soft sound of a babies cry on the other end of
the phone."Good bye Paul."Karen said as Paul heard the click of the
phone.Paul shut the cell phone as he let his tears fall freely from
his eyes.He knew he loved them both as he sat there thinking about
them.


Karen cradeled her young son to her as she sat in her hospital
bed."We will be alright."she said softly to him as she thought of
Paul.Tears were in her eyes as she looked at the baby boy.Another
small mistake she had made in her life that affected someone elses
life.She thought of all the pain she had caused to Paul and his
family.No one could ever know who this childs father was both there
careers would suffer and Paul's family would be so hurt.


"Karen come on its only three months!You can take the boys with
> you."Kim was saying as Karen sat the baby down in his play
> pin.Preston hung over the side of the play pin looking down at his
> little brother."Kim let me just have a few more months.Its to soon
> for me to start another movie.Chase is only three months old.I
don't
> want to leave him with a nanny right now while I'm on some movie

> all day."Karen said as she sat back down on the sofa."Karen its

> nine months sense you've worked.You need to put the past behind you
> and move on with your career."Kim said.Karen looked over at her two
> young sons."Kim the boys are my past and my future.I don't want to

> to much in the spot light right now."Karen said.Kim rolled her
> eyes."Its is very in now a days for actresses to have kids and not
> tell who the father is."Kim said.Karen chuckled."Your not going to
> give up till I take this part are you."Karen said."No I'm not! So

> L.A."Kim said with a laugh.Karen nodded "When do we leave?"Karen

> from him as Evan pulled out the toys.Paul looked into Evan's eyes

smiled "Yes
> car."he said.The phone rang as Evan started to make moter sounds
> running the car across the carpet.Paul leaned over and picked up

> cordless phone on the table next to him."Paul I'm in L.A."Karen said as she held the phone to her ear.Paul's heart was pounding as he heard her voice."Does this mean I can see my son?"Paul asked as he looked at Evan who was now sitting in his lap."Yes...tonight"Karen said softly.


Paul's heart skipped a beat when he heard the car pull up to the
house.He looked out the window as Karen steped out of the car.He
watched as she opened the backdoor of the car and unbuckled
Preston.Paul smiled as he looked at him.Preston had grown so much
just like Evan.Karen knelt across the seat and picked up the car seat
that held the baby that Paul was so happy to see.She brushed her long
brown hair back over her shoulder as she adjusted the carseat on her
hip and took Preston's hand and walked up the walk way to the
house.Paul opened the door smiling at her as she steped inside.He
took the carseat from Karen and looked at the baby snuggeled in a
blue blanket.Paul had tears in his eyes as he looked into his sons
dark blue eyes,never had he seen such beautiful eyes as he leaned in
and placed a light kiss on the babies soft round cheek.Paul looked at
Karen who stood there watching him meet his son."Karen he is
wonderful."he said as he picked up his son.Paul held his son for the
first time as tears of joy ran freely down his face."Karen what can I
say to make you understand how much I want to be with you both."he
said.The baby snuggeled aginst his chest as if he knew Paul was his
father.Karen turned away and watched Preston as he played with the
toys that were still out from when Evan had been there earlier in the
day.She let out a soft sigh."Paul please ....."was all she could say
as tears clouded her eyes.The sight of them together made Karen want
to be a part of his life more then ever.
